The sweet taste of the deep south has hit Bankside at the smoking-hot Porky’s BBQ. Go for Memphis-style smoked meats, classic soul food, Americana-inspired cocktails and a range of bourbons, rye whiskies and craft beers.
Chefs use a traditional Memphis-style grill and Oklahoma smokers to create authentic slow-cooked American barbecue dishes with all the natural juices retained for exceptional tenderness and taste.
Start with a mug of house beef chilli, crispy bbq wings, or the cheesy corn hush puppies – a southern specialty with real soul. The main act is the Memphis meaty ribs and tips, which are dry-rubbed and gently smoked low and slow over hickory wood, then served with Porky’s secret homemade BBQ sauce. Or try the succulent pulled pork, which is smoked for 18 hours.
Other guilty pleasures include the must-try hounddogs – 100% British pork sausage with fried onions in a soft bun, available with toppings of pulled pork, streaky bacon and jack cheese, or with chilli and cheese. Fancy something a bit different? Try the catfish, which comes spiced and fried, or select some stars from the sideshow such as mac & cheese, roasted corn on the cob, fried sweet potatoes and bbq beans. If there’s still space for dessert, make yours a chocolate pecan pie with squirty cream, or the baked vanilla cheesecake with mixed berries.
A diverse selection of whiskeys includes flavoured, rye and Tennessee varieties. There’s even a special bourbon cocktail list. Add to this a classic playlist of country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll music against a backdrop of posters and memorabilia from road trips across the deep south and you have yourself the perfect pit-stop in Porky’s BBQ.
