Borough Market Young Enterprise competition

Bankside and You Opportunity
Help local year 9 students become budding entrepreneurs
Rachel Nicholson
Corporate Responsibility Manager

The Borough Market Young Enterprise project is a competition open to year 9 students in Southwark organised by the Southwark Education Business Alliance with help from business volunteers to deliver workshops and to help young people develop their business acumen and encourage them to explore innovative and sustainable business ideas.

In the school preliminary round, young people will work in teams of five and each team will develop a unique business idea with the support of business volunteers, the EBA and teachers.  The teams will then present their ideas to a panel of judges at a business partner’s premises where one team from each school will be chosen to progress to the next stage.

The successful teams will go on to sell their product at Borough Market later on in the year.

Better Bankside is working with Southwark EBA to encourage local businesses to get involved in this exciting project. It's a great opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with young people and help them develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills. Volunteers are currently needed to help deliver workshops at the following schools. Times for the workshops will be confirmed shortly, but each workshop takes place at the school and will last about 1.5 hours.  You don't need to be an expert in the areas covered, as you'll be provided with all the materials you need to help the students with these topics and to develop their product ideas, plus the EBA and teachers will be on hand to support you.
