Could arts volunteering be your passport to new skills?
Are you from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background and want to gain experience working in the arts?
Getting your Volunteer Passport will give you plenty of opportunities! The Volunteer Passport is a FREE scheme run by Southwark Arts Forum and Volunteer Centre Southwark to support people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds with volunteering within the arts and cultural sector.
Your Volunteer Passport will get you:
- An initial 1:1 meeting to look at potential opportunities which are right for you
- Placement in an arts or cultural organisation
- Training and support throughout your placement
- CV workshops
- Interview skills workshops
- Sessions on networking
- Valuable and transferable skills
You could volunteer with dance companies, design studios, galleries, museums, music studios or theatres.
Volunteers are needed to help with events, exhibitions, back office, social media and marketing, education and visitor experience.
What do I get out of it?
Experience in the arts and cultural sector, new skills and work experience – plus you’ll have fun and meet new people.
How much time?
Volunteering can be very flexible. It could be anything from one evening or day a week to weekends, or one off events. Opportunities can be found that meet your interests, time and skills.
The Volunteer Passport is a partnership initiative funded through NIACE, and provided jointly by Southwark Council, Southwark Arts Forum, Volunteer Centre Southwark and Volunteer Centre Lambeth.
