Bankside Residents Forum
This month we put another of Better Bankside’s community partners under the spotlight – meet the Bankside Residents Forum and their new co-ordinator Cathy Bowman.

The Bankside Residents Forum is run by and for all residents in the area. It aims to represent local people in the development process and to inform all local people about changes in the Bankside area. The Bankside Residents Forum works to improve the quality of life of everyone in Bankside. Cathy Bowman joined the organisation just a few months ago but with a wealth of experience in the locality. She was a local councillor in Walworth for 8 years between 1998 and 2006, serving as Deputy Leader for the last two. She’s also a local resident, a great bonus in her new role.

The BRF held their AGM on the 16th July, inviting a speaker from Native Land to give a presentation outlining the new developments set to take place on Holland Street. Over 30 people attended and a lively conversation ensued about the impact, both positive and negative, that the new buildings could have on local residents. The BRF’s presence as a facilitator for these kinds of conversation is invaluable for both developer and resident alike.

If you’d like more information about the Bankside Residents Forum or want to get involved, please contact Cathy Bowman on 020 7928 9528 or cathy@banksideresidentsforum.org
