In order to understand the changing travel patterns of employees in Bankside, it will be necessary to collect travel data on a regular basis. To facilitate this data collection, a full travel survey will be carried out every 4 years. This will be similar to the 2006 travel survey and data will be analyzed based on small companies and large companies.
Large companies
Those who have signed up to the Bankside Master Travel Plan to produce their own travel plan will be requested to undertake their own travel surveys. Guidelines of required questions will be provided to these companies. These questions will be compliant with TfL monitoring requirements. The companies will be required to make the data available to Better Bankside to allow for a detailed analysis of employees in the area.
Smaller companies
Those who have signed up to the Bankside Master Travel Plan will also be requested to join in with the survey provided by Better Bankside. The next full travel survey will occur in 2010, in line with the targets.
Smaller survey
As well as the full survey, a small survey will take place annually. The objective of these smaller yearly travel surveys are to identify the mode-shift in transport patterns and provide an understanding of whether progress towards the targets is being made. This survey will be on a smaller scale and will aim to obtain information on:
- The distance people commute to work
- The transport methods used to get to work
- Carbon saving through travel
- Work based travel
