The AOP sent subscription renewal forms to all its members in November 2008. The deadline for renewing subscription has now passed. Members who have not renewed their membership should do so immediately as otherwise their membership will lapse.
Members can now pay on line here.
Remember that it is illegal to practise without insurance - and AOP membership provides £2 million of medical malpractice cover to each member - as well as offering representation at GOC Fitness to Practise panels.
Members who wish to take advantage of our concessionary membership should remember that they need to sign a form confirming that they work 100 days per year or fewer.
OTTV has been developed by Ten Alps Publishing and the AOP. It contains video-news updates from the Optometry Today editorial team and CET video scripted by Dr Frank Eperjesi of Aston University. There are two general CET points available from the exam on the site which is free to users thanks to the funding of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.
The TV station dedicated to optometry has proved very popular since it's launch in November last year. It not only offers a brand new way of receiving CET but will keep you up to date with the latest optical news.
OTTV is freely available at www.optometrytoday.tv or by clicking the OTTV button on the right hand side of this page.
AOP members who wish to stand in the elections to the AOP Council next year can print the nomination form from the .pdf file on the AOP website. The .pdf file includes instructions for completing the form and information about the new nomination procedure. The closing date for nominations for the elections is 30 January 2009.
A paper version of the nomination form was sent to UK readers with the 12 December issue of OT and members were sent an e-mail about the elections, with the nomination form as a .pdf file, on the same day.
In addition to giving AOP members three opportunities to receive the nomination form, the new procedure, which supersedes our sending the nomination form to our 10,000 members in a personalised mailing affords cost-savings in the election administration.
The AOP wishes to encourage members to stand for election or nominate a member to stand for election to the AOP Council. For more details and the nomination form, please click here.
