Bankside Celebrates St George's Day

The streets of Bankside were alive with people celebrating England's patron saint and Shakespeare's birthday on April 23rd. These great figures of English cultural heritage were commemorated by a day of traditional festivities, frivolities and fun, fine foods and brews, festoons and fanfares.
Borough Market and its environs enjoyed a street party atmosphere with traditional music, eccentric contemporary entertainers, bawdy enactments of the legend of St George and the Dragon by the Lionspart theatre company, as well as entertainment on an open topped double decker bus.
The best of English fayre was on offer from Borough Markets finest producers: Wines, beers, spirits and cider tastings, cheeses, pies, hog roasts and much, much more Bankside’s numerous eateries and public houses joined in the merriment with signature brews and dishes, and promenading entertainers and musicians.
