Events Academy Great Success Once Again!

Fresh from winning the Mayor of London BID Community Award in 2010, this year our Events Academy project was bigger and better than ever!
The evening featured fantastic West End star Colin Roy, the amazing Kinetika Bloco performance group, a truly inspirational film made by the young people, accompanied by delicious food from The Refinery restaurant and bubbly from guest speaker Mark Riches, MD of First Protocol.
Over 120 people turned out at the lovely Prospero House to meet this year’s young people – the ‘Great Eight’! The ‘Great Eight’ 16-21 year olds were recruited from SE1 schools, youth clubs and forums, and spent their summer getting a real-life taste of the working world. They received hours of training in all aspects of event management and the world of business, generously donated by Bankside businesses keen to invest in tomorrow’s generation.
Look out for the amazing video of the 2011 team’s experience, coming soon!
The Events Academy aims to help raise the aspirations and ambitions of young people in SE1 by offering them the opportunity to learn what it takes to put on a great event.
