Changes to Southwark Cathedral entrances

From 1 July the entrances to Southwark Cathedral's churchyard will be changing
  • Southwark Cathedral

From 1 July to August 31 Southwark Cathedral will be experimenting with a new visitor route into the building through entrances at the west end on Cathedral Street and the Millennium Courtyard. Part of the visitor route will take in a newly-restored churchyard which will be re-turfed and re-planted. During the summer, the Cathedral will be hosting a number of activities in the churchyard that they hope will appeal those who live and work in the neighbourhood as well as to the large number of tourists who visit the area. These include free music at lunchtimes, a giant chess set, and a prayer labyrinth. The Cathedral Education Centre will be running a series of activities in the school holidays for young people and families aimed particularly at those who live locally who might not otherwise visit the Cathedral. Details of all these events will be available from the Cathedral website Southwarkcathedral.org.uk.
