Better Bankside has increased the size of its cleaning team for the Summer and Autumn 2008. The new team is supervised by Wetherton de Silva and he is supported by Ricardo Leal, Mauricio Puricelli and Marco Fernandes.

 

The cleaning service is provided by KGB Cleaning and the team is based at the Tate Modern. (Photo) The team works 6 days per week, from 7:00am to 7:00pm from the end of March through to the end of October at which time they revert to winter time working 8:00am to 4:30pm each day. On Sundays they work until 4:30pm.

 

   

 

The team uses its electric vehicle to visit 60 locations throughout the Business Improvement District picking up litter, washing down surfaces and dealing with spillage, fouling and contamination. As well as its routine work the team can be called out by businesses who are concerned about refuse or fouling of surfaces outside their premises.

The team has recently taken possession of the new Glutton street vacuum machine which is being deployed along key footways and in busy precincts. The Glutton is proving popular with the team. It is eye-catching, easy to use and effective at picking up litter from discarded cigarette butts to glass, plastic bottles and larger items. “Its like taking a dog for a walk”.
