From local ambassador to London Ambassador

Three Better Bankside rangers have taken part in piloting a Level 2 certificate developed by the London Training & Resource Centre (LTRC) for the London Development Agency and designed to boost the role of wardens and BID rangers from local ambassador to London Ambassador.

The new London Tourism Vision for 2006-16 stipulates the essential tourism elements needed to host a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Quality information at the destination is key to the visitor experience. Neighbourhood wardens and BID staff are perfectly placed to improve the experience of visitors to London by improving the welcome they receive.

The Better Bankside rangers are now trained in:
  • Specialist customer care to assist visitors to London
  • Visitor perceptions and requirements
  • Cultural awareness
  • Facts & Figures on tourism in London
  • Overview of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012
  • Overview of essential visitor information – travel methods & routes, tourist attractions
  • All delegates received a comprehensive training manual and a specially customised London City Guide.
This training module will be part of a regional and national campaign led by the LDA and Visit London and all Better Bankside rangers will be sent on the one-day course to become a London Ambassador.
