As many members know, Better Bankside employs a small cleaning team, KGB Cleaning, which operates from its base at the Tate Modern and cleans the BID 7 days per week. You may have seen the pink electric vehicle doing its daily rounds.
The 3 members of the team are:
- Weverson de Silva
- Mauricio Puricelle
- Marco Fernandes
The team supplements the Council’s street cleaning service but focuses on 60 specific locations where there is known to be frequent littering, where there is a lot of foot traffic and where the Council’s team don’t usually go. Such places as Winchester Square, the ‘Yards’ off Borough High Street and the planted spaces along the Riverside Walk.
Each location is inspected daily by the Better Bankside Rangers and the state cleanliness is scored using a 5-point scale (where 5 means there is ‘no litter or refuse’ and 1 means that the space is ‘heavily littered’). In the 4 week period to 24th December 2007, 30% of locations inspected were entirely free of litter and 99% of the locations scored 3 or more and were judged to be “predominantly free of litter and refuse”.
Better Bankside will be introducing a new electric powered cleaner in April to help us to improve further on these scores and is service.
The Team also responds to callouts when there are reports of fouling, spillage or evidence of street sleeping and discarded needles that require urgent attendance. The Team washes down, disinfects and clears such areas.
If you or your colleagues notice any such fouling near to or around your business, or when you are walking through the BID, please report it to Better Bankside. We will arrange for disposal and clearance. Contact Better Bankside on 020 7928 3998 or speak to one of our Rangers on 07900907972 or 07867557026 and we will deal. |
