Special Constables Initiative

Southwark Police are currently looking at opportunities for introducing Employer Supported Policing, a new and very powerful partnership between some of London's major employers and the Metropolitan Police Service providing police training for staff, contributing directly to the security of your staff and premises, building police relationships and directly helping to make London safer.

How Does It Work?
As a supporting business, you allow your staff to be trained as Special Constables. These Specials, once fully trained, will carry out patrols one day per fortnight in key areas in London with full police powers and in many cases patrols are relevant to eh employing sector - i.e. recruits from the retail industry patrol in High Streets and Shopping Centres.

In return your business receives a highly skilled, highly trained member of staff who will bring many benefits to the workplace.

With the success of the London Bridge Business District additional policing patrols in the reduction of crime, and the fear of crime, this iniative would continue the momentum, and would complement the current levels of policing combating the threat of terrorism in the area.
