Family Pirate Days
It's the Golden Hinde's 35 th Birthday! She was launched on 5th  April 1973 in Appledore, Devon and the Golden Hinde are celebrating with a pirate birthday party! Meet their dastardly crew, dress up in pirate costumes, come on a guided tour, join a treasure hunt and listen to tales of the dread pirate Blackbeard and other pirates! There will be music, cake and drinks! Special guest appearance by Colin Roy on 6th April - Swing on the Golden Hinde with The Rat Pack & Nat King Cole!
When: Saturday 5th April & Sunday 6th April, 10:30am - 5:00pm

Shakespeare's Birthday:Sonnet Walks
When: Saturday 19th April
Shakespeare’s Globe, in partnership with Phoebus Cart, continues the tradition of Mark Rylance’s Sonnet Walks. Walkers can choose from two tours of Tudor London: strolling from either Westminster Abbey or the site of Shakespeare’s theatre in Shoreditch. Twelve sonneteers will entertain walkers as they stroll to Shakespeare’s Globe.Walks set off every 15 minutes from 10am to 12.45pm.

Shakespeare's Birthday: Open Day
When: Sunday 20th April
A free party day of events and activities including a huge pass-the-parcel, balloons, cake, a rare London visit from the acclaimed Footsbarn Theatre Company, and your chance to perform on the famous Globe stage. Workshops will be available from Globe practitioners including a playwriting  master-class by Ché Walker, whose play The Frontline will be premiéring at the Globe this summer. Doors open from 12pm to 5.00pm (last entry 4.30pm).

Shakespeare's Birthday: River Event and the opening of the Theatre Season
When: Wednesday 23rd April
Their 2008 theatre season opens with the first performance of the season - King Lear, and they’ll be marking the day with a special event on the river. At 6:00pm a floating theatre will travel up the Thames from Butlers Wharf to the Globe where entertainment will continue until 7:00pm.
Tickets: River Event is FREE. Tickets for King Lear £5-£33.
