The finals of the first ever BB French Boules Tournament  took place last night amongst the walled courtyard in front of La Cave Restaurant & Wine Bar. 

 

The three winning teams from Group A - Tsuru Kintama, B - Better Bouleside and C - Boules of Steel played eachother to find the top two teams who would battle it out in a final game.

 

Tsuru Kintama played incredibly well considering that after their first game, one of their top players had to leave and they put up an amazingly good fight against Boules of Steel in their second game.  Unfortunately it wasn't enough to get them through to the finals.  

 

To my surprise Better Bouleside did manage to get through, furthermore taking the lead in terms of points at the end of the elimination stage: 

 

 

However the final against Boules of Steel was a very competitive and such a close game.  Better Bouleside took the lead early on with a score of 5 points to 1 but Boules of Steel managed to gain the advantage and went on to win the BB Boules Tournament 13 - 9!  But not only did they win the tournament and the personalised Boules Set, they also won the bottle of Champagne for having the most supporters (93) according to our online poll. 

 

Pat Watts from the British Petanque Association who umpired all the games said: "It was the best tournament he has umpired.  It was obvious that every single team that took part thoroughly enjoyed the tournament, the spectators brought extra merriment with them and it was very well organised.  Better Bankside set out to organise a fun event for local businesses and I can say they certainly achieved that. I look forward to next year's event."
