772 tonnes of carbon dioxide were saved through Better Bankside’s ERDF-funded Smart Green Business programme, which wrapped up earlier this year. That’s equivalent - by volume – to more than 3000 London buses full of CO2!
Over 180 businesses took part in SGB, which offered free environmental services to organisations with fewer than 250 employees.
As a result of the programme Bankside businesses received 1030 hours of free consultancy advice. This included expert site visits and action plans to help companies improve their energy efficiency, reduce the amount of waste they produce and consume less water.
SGB also helped businesses implement environmental management systems that will help them monitor and improve their environmental performance and may also lead to them achieving environmental accreditation.
Over 80 SMEs attended green networking events and 200 businesses are now recycling with Better Bankside thanks to the funding received.
