Bermondsey Community Nursery is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. BCN is governed by a Management Committee (MC) made up of parents/carers who are responsible for the management of the nursery. BCN has been established for 26 years and has received very good OFSTED ratings. BCN sets out to make a significant difference in the lives of their children by instilling a lifelong love of learning and creating a challenging and stimulating environment, sensitive to the needs of the children, working in partnership with parents and providing a valuable service to the community.

 

About the Opportunity: MC members are Directors and charitable trustees for the company. They meet monthly at BCN, on a Wednesday from 5.45-7pm to discuss nursery business including staff appointments, salaries, issues with parents/carers/staff, children numbers at nursery, budget/spending, policy, fundraising and marketing. Training for all MC members is available via Southwark Council and they encourage MC members to attend both for the benefit of themselves and BCN.

 

Skills the BCN are looking for include fundraising, marketing, human resources and finance and administration. So if you're interested in contributing towards the future of young children's education, this would be a great place to start.

 

Time Commitment: One 1.5 hour meetings every month
