Dockland Settlements - Marathon Runners
Dockland Settlements A multi-purpose community organisation, the Dockland Settlements are at the heart of their local communities and host an ever increasing range of social activities including Parent & Toddler Groups, Parenting Courses, Scout & Cub Packs, Tae Kwondo, Aerobics, Ballroom & Rock 'n' Roll Dancing, Singing & Music Classes and a Pensioners Club. Historically, they were set up to provide food, shelter and basic education to improve the lives of the many single women, forced by poverty or abuse, to flee their homes and families in search of work and a new life in the thriving London docks only to discover that the streets of London, and particularly those of the east end, were not 'paved with gold'. They have three centres in the Isle of Dogs, Stratford and Rotherhithe.

About the Opportunity Docklands Settlement will have 50 guaranteed places in next year's event and they are looking for people who would like to run as part of their team to raise funds for their centres.  They will also be looking for volunteers for marshalling duties on the Isle of Dogs section of the course.
