Mentoring - the rewards

What aspects of mentoring do you find most rewarding?

*         The feeling that you may be making a positive difference

*         Opportunity to help the mentee realise his potential and overcome sometimes difficult circumstances

*         The opportunity to appreciate the very different outlooks and perspectives different people can have on life.

*         The feeling of giving an individual personalised attention and time in a world where that doesn’t happen very often

*         Giving students assistance they might not otherwise get; giving students a different perspective

*         Being able to assist in providing experience, information and challenge to the mentee’s decision-making process about subjects, university choices and career.

*         I enjoy meeting R as she is very positive and motivated. She also seems to enjoy having personal advice from an external person. I also enjoy the experience of seeing another part of London and the variety it brings to my job, as being a junior member of the team at Marakon I have a different role with R and with my manager.

Mentees reported that they got help on the following:

*         Confidence
*         Broaden their ideas
*         Broaden their options
*         Real world
*         Career advise
*         Jobs
*         CV writing
*        Time management
