The service has been deployed in more than 40 locations for seven days a week between 7.00am and 7.00pm from April to the end October and between 8.00am and 4.30pm for the rest of the year. It also deploys Better Bankside's seating and assists with cleaning before and after events. In the summer of 2006, the cleaning team removed two seven-litre boxes of needles per week. 

In addition Better Bankside provides an ongoing street washing service through its contractor. This operates every month for periods of between 3 and 15 days. As well as targeting more than 30 regular locations, it can be deployed on an ‘as and when’ basis, particularly where there has been serious graffiti, often at high level.

A new street cleaning contract will begin in April 2007, working on a wider range of cleaning and environmental management tasks. Continuing street washing will include specialist treatments to surfaces such as the tarmac pavements on Southwark Street and the stone pavements around Borough Market.
