Green Grants
Responding to the shortage of open space in the area, Better Bankside conceived the innovative Business Green Grant scheme. This part funds and organises the installation and maintenance of containerised planting around commercial premises.
Recent examples include new plants and planters on Clink Street and Stoney Street. Further plants and planters are installed around Borough Market, Thrale Street and Winchester Walk.
In 2008, Better
Bankside completed five new green projects in the year with
installations of plants in containers in a number of locations:
- outside the Eyestorm Gallery on Holland Street
- outside the Motability Operations offices
- on Southwark Bridge Road
- at the Menier Gallery on Southwark Street
- in Cathedral Square, Montague Close, next to the Glaziers Hall
- outside Clinks Bar at Novotel on Thrale Street.
