Litter picking
Litter can refer to anything from a small crisp packet or sweet wrapper to large bags of rubbish and includes chewing gum and cigarette butts.
All litter is unsightly and makes a local area look untidy and uncared for. 80% of people responding to a recent survey of visitors to this area rated the BID as "good to excellent" in terms of cleanliness. Better Bankside allocates a large amount of its cleaning budget to litter picking, targeting 56 locations within the BID for daily sweeping and removal of litter.
Better Bankside's cleaners work in parallel to the Council's street cleaners and target crowded places, difficult to clean surfaces (such as the cobbled streets) and public/private parts of the public realm, such as the Bankside Mix estate.
