A key part of Better Bankside's safety theme is to ensure that lighting is regularly inspected and that all failures are reported to the Council's Street Lighting Engineers. Better Bankside's Rangers are tasked to audit lighting at every night time patrol.

Special lighting features add the attractiveness of an area. Better Bankside has contributed to a number of lighting features along routes into and within the Business Improvement District. Arch 401on Union Street is a feature on a key route into the BID. The 'blue wash' effect to the arch between Vinopolis and Black & Blue on Stoney Street creates an interest in a route to the riverside.
