Cleaning Team

The Better Bankside Cleaning Team provides a cleaning service that is additional to that provided by Southwark Council.
The cleaners inspect and clean 73 locations throughout the BID, focusing on spaces that are either not cleaned by the Council or are difficult to clean due to heavy footfall or difficult surfaces. The team is also able to respond to call outs from businesses and other organizations to clean up areas outside their premises where there has been fouling, spillage or dumping of rubbish. In addition if our wardens see anything they will call the cleaning team into action.
They have 2 electric powered load carrying vehicles, a battery powered street vacuum cleaner, a jet washer and all the tools for the job. They are highly mobile and able to get around the BID at short notice to attend to cleaning call outs.
The team will handle litter picking, jet washing the streets (with specialist contractors brought in as required), tackle dog mess, chewing gum removal as well as tackling fly postering and graffiti. The team have pink electric vehicles to help them in their role and to help them respond quickly, along with the pink glutton to tackle some of those hard to reach spots.
The team works from:
07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday and 07:00 to 13:00 Sundays during the months March to end October
07:00-16:30 Monday to Friday and 07:00-13:00 from November to end of February.
