Hogg Robinson goes green - how about you?

Next time you're up on Southwark Bridge, have a look at number 24. Outside is a spectacular display of planting, jointly funded by the occupiers - BTI (a division of Hogg Robinson - and the largest-ever 'Green Grant' from Better Bankside.  Joy Brown, Hogg Robinson's Business Service Support Manager, pronounced herself 'absolutely delighted with the result - it gives a nice "feelgood" factor'.

If you would like to apply for a Green Grant, call Better Bankside Projects Manager, Chris Bateman. Chris can be reached on 020 7928 4132, email cb@betterbankside.co.uk

Green Grants are at the forefront of Better Bankside's 'Greening' programme, which together commands up to 6% of the first year Business Improvement District budget. Following the installation of other new schemes at Amano Café (Clink Street), Spirit Integrated Communications (Winchester Walk), and Bar 242 (Blackfriars Road), there have now been some 40 Green Grant-funded planting projects.

Continuing the green theme, the existing hanging baskets in Park Street are about to be renewed by Better Bankside's contractor, CJS Plants.

In Hopton Street several plane trees have been 'French pollarded' after businesses and residents told Better Bankside how pigeons were ruining the 'Piazza' behind Falcon Point - an area popular with lunching office workers. Although the cut looks drastic, it should significantly reduce pigeon activity and - in a short time - produce an attractive effect.
