Can we work on your case? - an offer to local businesses
from
the Met

A team of four senior police personnel need to try out their skills in
Ôorganisational developmentÕ. Have you got a problem they can try to solve?
Ian Thomas, Chief Superintendent of Southwark Police, is one of four
police officers looking to undertake a piece of Ôproblem solvingÕ work
for a Bankside business. All are either Police Commanders or very senior
personnel within Departments.
As part of their leadership training programme, the officers need to
test their skills in a live environment outwith the Police Service. They
are seeking to address a particular issue or problem for a local organisation.
The police team would spend 2 or 3 full days in house, allowing them to
interview staff members, consult with other stake-holders and consider
plans/structures/processes etc.
At the conclusion of the Ôon-siteÕ work and any follow-up research with
customers and/or staff, the team would provide feedback to senior members
of the organisation. Full terms of reference would be agreed at the outset
of the work.
The benefit to the host organisation is independent and free consultation
and assistance from a team of senior managers experienced in working in
the public sector. The team has mixed practical and strategic management
experience and two members have qualifications in Business and Change
Management. There is no cost to the host organisation but obviously there
would need to be a degree of co-ordination etc to ensure the opportunity
was fully maximised.
