Southwark Council's Bankside Information Day is an annual fixture. Featuring stalls run by a variety of local groups, it seeks to inform residents, workers and visitors what is happening in the area.

This year's Information Day takes place on Friday - 2nd September - in Southwark Cathedral's south churchyard, between 11am and 6pm. Along with Southwark Council, Better Bankside is running a Healthy Travel stall offering:

• The chance to win a Gary Fisher Presidio bike, courtesy of On Your Bike
• Free 'Dr Bike' bike servicing, courtesy of On Your Bike
• Free massages
• Free tasty snacks
• Health & fitness advice
• Information on healthy walks in Southwark

We also want to know more about your journey to work - how do you find it? Could it be better? Could it be healthier? Walking for 30 minutes uses 150 calories, cycling for 30 minutes uses 180 calories, while driving for 30 minutes uses only 40 calories.

There will also be a chance on the day to sign up the Clever Commuter Challenge being held in Southwark on the 15th September (see story elsewhere in this bulletin).

The Healthy Travel stall is an initiative tied in to Better Bankside's involvement with 'Optimum 2', an EU - funded project to encourage business participation in travel planning. Read about it here.
