Commuting - Quiet Routes
Walking to work is easier and quicker than you think. You may think that commuting to London Bridge or Waterloo station is the only way to get to Bankside, but there are many other alternative routes. Adding more walking to your commute can save you time and the hassle of the two busiest hubs in your area.
Follow these customised maps from nearby tube and rail stations for quick, less busy, low pollution routes into work.
All the suggested routes are less than two miles. A brisk walk of 2 miles should take about 30 minutes. Use these maps as a starting point and modify them to discover your own personal route into walk.

If you commute from East London, chances are you will end up commuting through Liverpool Street Station either by tube or train. You also know how congested the central line is in the morning, and westbound it only gets worse! Walking from Liverpool Street to Bankside is closer than you think. It takes less than 30 minutes and is a pleasant walk past St. Pauls and some other of London’s most iconic buildings.

Possibly the best London walk into work! Take a stroll from any West End station and treat yourself to a stunning commute. Make sure to walk across the pedestrian only Jubilee Bridge, which offers some of the best view from any bridge in town. Follow the car-free Jubilee walkway the along Southbank riverfront straight into Bankside- it will only take you 30 minutes!

Elephant & Castle is a close and much less congested tube and rail hub. Why not skip a few stops, get off the train early and walk the rest of the way? It only takes 15 minutes!

Walk to work from Borough station and enjoy the historical streets of Southwark whilst going past one of the area’s most attractive parks (football pitch and flower garden included!)

From Waterloo, Take an unconventional rand quieter route into Bankside using the Cut and Union Street. It’s a nice atmospheric walk that passes by many vibrant theatres, art galleries and independent cafes- great for getting your morning latte or seeing an after-work show!
